Today some selected Ninjas had the opportunity to spread some kindness out in the community. Students handed out the kindness cards and magnets they created to Martha's House (the local seniors centre). This was an incredibly heart warming experience for both the students, staff and seniors. The students did a great job interacting with the seniors and spread lots of smiles and happiness! Some of our Ninjas really demonstrated great initiative as leaders.
After the visit students were feeling proud and excited about all the smiles they put on the senior's faces. Here are some of the student responses: "It warmed my heart that we got to make other people's day." "It made me feel like a better person." "It made me feel really happy and it makes my heart feel bigger and better." "Some of the ladies asked me for a hug and when she asked me, inside I felt like I had made someones day." "I feel happy after that because I saw a whole bunch of people smiling and happy. They were sharing their cards, it was super cute."

Meeting #10 was all about introducing one of our last big acts of kindness. We have decided to make a kindness book! This book will be donated to the Learning Commons once it is completed. The book will be filled with work done by the students such as, poems, stories and visual representations of kindness. The students were very excited to hear about this project and how their ideas and work will be showcased for years to come!
Today we brainstormed some ideas of what kindness is and how we can demonstrate it in our book. The students came up with a huge list of ideas, here are some of them . . . What is Kindness?
With such wonderful ideas we all left the club very excited to begin on our final chapter of kindness club! #BeKindAlways Meeting #9 was dedicated to finishing the Ninja's kindness magnets. The grade 4/5 Ninjas did a great job creating bright and meaningful magnets to hand out in the community.
Stay tuned to see our Ninjas in action! #BeKindAlways Meeting #8 was all about spreading happiness in spirit of International Day of Happiness. The grades 1, 2 and 3 Ninjas worked hard to decorate cards to bring some happiness into their community. These cards will be handed out into the community by selected kindness ambassadors in hopes of sparking happiness and kindness in the local community.
We have some ideas about community places to handout the cards and this will be happening next week! Stay tuned for more information about the Ninja's journey to spread kindness in the community! For more information about International Day of Happiness, check out this website :) https://www.dayofhappiness.net #BeKindAlways Meeting #7 was the Kindness Ninja's first community challenge. The grade 4/5 Kindness Ninjas brainstormed kind statements that they wanted to share with the community. The Ninjas came up with so many wonderful messages to share such as, "SMILE", "It's Cool To Care", "Let Kindness Grow" and " Just Keep Going".
During the next meeting the Ninjas are going to decorate magnets with creative art and a kind message of their choice. These magnets will then be laminated and handed out to the community! Students were excited to spread kindness outside of the school, and into their community! #BeKindAlways The Kindness Ninja coffee cart was a huge success! The staff at the school were excited and grateful for the treats and coffee that was delivered to their classrooms. The Ninjas who were chosen to run the cart experienced the kindness 'ripple effect' first hand. It was so wonderful to see the Ninjas in action, making a positive impact in the school.
The staff loved the coffee cup labels created by the grade 1, 2 and 3 students. It was a great way to incorporate all of the Ninja's into the act of kindness! #BeKindAlways Meeting #6 left students and teachers feeling warm and fuzzy. Because our last meeting with the grade 4/5 Kindness Ninjas was such a success we decided to lead a compliment circle, and play a game of Kind vs. Unkind with the grade 1, 2 and 3 Kindness Ninjas.
The grade 1, 2 and 3 Kindness Ninjas had wonderful ideas and easily recognized kind vs. unkind acts. Students discussed the importance of including those who are feeling left out while playing group games, or during recess. It was wonderful to hear so many kind ideas! Lastly, the Kindness Ninjas participated in a compliment circle. Students had such compassionate compliments to share with the other Kindness Ninjas, including: "I love your bright smile", "I like that you invite me to sit with you on the bus" and "I love how everyone in this club is kind to me". This was such a rewarding experience for everyone, including the teachers! Thank you Kindness Ninjas for brightening everyone's day with simple compliments. #BeKindAlways Meeting #5 was focused around being kind to one another! Today's meeting began with us playing a quick game called kind vs. unkind with the grade 4/5 Kindness Ninjas. The Ninjas did a great job identifying which scenarios were kind and which were unkind. They were able to address any unkind scenarios and provide insightful answers for how the scenario could be changed to become an act of kindness.
Since our group of Ninjas was much smaller today, we were able to partake in a compliment circle. The Ninjas did a great job engaging in kind conversations to help fill each other's buckets! The conversations focused around the kids telling one another that, "they appreciate the help they give in class" to "you are a great friend" or "you have a nice smile." This activity is great for students to be kind to one another and can also help students open up with one another about what they are thankful for. Lastly, we led into a conversation about who would be helping with the coffee cart for the teachers this week. All club members were very eager to participate, so we arranged shifts allowing everyone to partake in this small act of kindness. #BeKindAlways We have a bulletin board!
Fleetwood's Kindness Ninjas now have a designated space to spread some kindness with everyone in the school! The board is filled with reminders to #choosekind and spread kindness whenever possible. Throughout the board there are kindness posters with pull-tabs. Students are encouraged to "take one and spread kindness." These tabs are filled with simple tasks such as: give a compliment, sharpen a classmate's pencil, and help a teacher carry their things. The board also presents a new kindness club challenge for students every few days. Students can check the board frequently and participate in the various kindness challenges. #BeKindAlways Meeting #4 was a great opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of little acts of kindness. The grade 1, 2 and 3 Kindness Ninjas explored the book A World Of Kindness! This book revealed the impact kindness has on others, and discussed how simple acts of kindness such as saying please and thank you, being kind to animals, and lending a helping hand can make the world around us a better place.
Following this, the Kindness Ninja's helped prepare kindness labels to decorate coffee cups that will be handed out to teachers next week. The Ninja's have planned to set up a coffee and donut cart for the teachers in the school to enjoy. By decorating kindness labels the Ninja's hope to share a kind message with teachers, reminding them that they are loved and appreciated. We look forward to having the grade 4/5 students hand out the coffee and donuts next week! #BeKindAlways |
